Windows registry cleanup, with backup
Uninstalled programs leave leftovers in the Windows registry. PCVitalis finds those orphaned entries and cleans them with a backup.
How it works
- Scan for orphaned entries
- List of what was found before cleaning
- Automatic backup before any change
What the scan looks for
- Programs that no longer exist: the registered uninstaller points to a file that has already been deleted.
- Broken program shortcuts: Windows still stores the path of a program that is gone.
- History of deleted programs: names of removed programs left behind in a Windows list.
- Windows' own installers (msiexec) are skipped: the cleanup never touches them.
How to undo it
Before deleting anything, PCVitalis creates a Windows restore point and saves everything it is about to remove in a .reg file stored on the machine itself. If something is missed, just double-click that file and confirm to bring the entries back.
